MISS GAMBRILL WINS WELLINGTON TITLE (Special to THE SUN.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. THE Wellington ladies’ open golf championship was won by Miss Gambrill, 6f Miramar, who defeated Miss Upham, Miramar, 5 up and 4. In the final Miss Gambrill played brilliant golf considering that the weather conditions were wretched. In the semifinals Miss Gambrill beat Mrs. Godby, 5 and 4, and Miss Upham beat Miss Siefert, 2 and 1. Manawatu Tournament Press Association. PALMERSTON, N., Thursday. Maungakiekie Club The open tournament of the Maugakiekie Golf Club will commence to-morrow :it the Titirangi links, when the Qualifying rounds over 36 holes for the Titirangi «'up will be play id. In conjunction with this match the best gross medal score will win the Hislop Cup. In the afternoon, a medal handicap round will also be played. Eddowes, 6 up; Mrs. Robinson, 3 up; Mrs. Rutherford, 3 up. Whakatane (From Our Own Correspondent) OPOTIKI, Thursday. The annual meeting of the Whakatane Golf Club was presided over by Mr. L. Buddie. The chairman reported that steps had been taken to secure playing rights over the properties of Messrs. T. M. Lawson nnd Coyle. It was decided to incorporate the club to enable it to enter into a contract for the acquisition of a licence to pli«y over t'-e properties mentioned. Rules diawn up by Mr. Suckling were referred to the committee for approval. The election of officers resulted: —President. Mr. L. Buddie; vice-presidents. Dr. Cronin and Mr. F. Platt; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. G. Cradwick; club captain, Mr. C. A. Suckling; committee, Messrs. Columb, King and Beckett, and two ladies to be added; auditor, Mr. J. M. Curtis.
