CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE At the conference of the South Auckland Associated Chambers of Commerce at Papakura this week it was decided to urge the speedy duplication of the railway to Papakura and to have the second express stopped, unconditionally, at Pukekohe. A deputation is to urge the completion of the Whangarata-Pokeno Road. The Government will be asked to reduce the stamp duty on cheques to Id and also to provide better shelter for passengers at Paerata Station. Representations will also be made to the Railway Department to obtain reduced freight on second-class timber.
