TIVOLI
“AFRAID TO LOVE”
“Afraid to Love” is a snappy farce that stars a popular player. The cast is exceptional, and well chosen. It was adapted from, the play, “The Marriage of Kitty,” and is a fast-moving
sure to please. That is what the Tivoli is offering for the pleasure and entertainment of its patrons this week, and the initial production last night drew a large attendance. Florence Vidor portrays the role of Katherine Silver ton, and has xier Clive Brook, Norman Trevor, Jocelyn Lee, and Arthur Lubin. The story is an intriguing one, and tells of a marriage of convenience which results in a honeymoon of inconvenience and entanglements. To inherit a fortune, a baronet marries, his intention being to divorce his wife for the girls he thinks he loves as soon as he gets the money. The girl, however, proves more than attractive, and he finds himself falling in love with her. There is any amount of incident in the story, and some of the scenes are decidedly clever. The picture was produced in London and Paris. The next picture on the programme is “Special Delivery,” featuring the comedian of “Kid Boots” fame, Eddie Cantor. This is a lively and most a missing picture of the trials and tribulations of a postman, who mixes his mails with love. There is a villain in the piece, and Eddie proves that he is not so simple as he certainly looks. Jobyna Ralston is featured as his leading lady. The remainder of the programme is one that is sure to interest, while the Tivoli orchestra renders an enjoyable musical programme.
