British Films are on the Boom

£10,000,000 FOR CINEMAS British Wireless—Press Assu.—Copyright Reed. 11.15 a.m. LONDON, Wed. r pHE rapid strides made during the past year in the British film-producing industry have led to the establishment of several new studios and the enlargement of existing ones. The ‘‘Daily Mail'’ says that hundreds of thousands of pounds are involved in studio enterrpises contemplated or in course of construction. Lord Asquith at a meeting of the British Empire Film Institute yesterday, said that the exceptional activity in British film studios was the most gratifyin sign. A honeful factor was that the demand for British films had come from audiences, and that was likely to induce a more definite sense of continuity and permanence. Meanwhile there is great building activity thrgouhout the country on new cinemas, and it is estimated that £10,000,000 will be spent on such enterprises during the next 12 months.
