The Apprentices Amendment Bin was freely discussed in the eveninc the Opposition seeking postponement till next year. The Minister replied to questions in the afternoon. The Legislative Council sent thCustoms Amendment Bill through ail stages up to the third reading The Orchard Tax Bill and the Apiaries Bill, which were passed by the Hons* early this morning, were received in the Council and read a first time. Th. Apiaries Bill was also read a second time pro forma and referred to tho Statutes Revision Committee. Arbitration Amendment The long-looked-for Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill is likely to appear to-morrow. The Public Works Statement might be down this week, but the Prime Minister would not promise the House to this effect. If it comes down it will not be discussed this week. The Imperial Conference report, he said, would not appear this week. Not Building on Sand “I am not building on sand, butupo* the common sense and experience of the past four years"—this is the Hon. G. J. Anderson’s claim for his amendments to the Apprenticeship Act which have just been passed by the House Nurses’ Superannuation No provision will be made this rnr for superannuation for nurses, but it* Hon.
