CYCLONIC BOXING
TROWERN BEATS ACKWORTH
AUSTRALIAN OUTCLASSED By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. SYDNEY, Wednesday. In a boxing match this evening at the Sydney Stadium, Reg. Trowern, New Zealand, 9st. defeated Ackworth, Australia, 9st. in the sixth round of a 15-round contest. The New Zealander’s cyclonic attack sent Ackworth down twice in the first round. His over-eagerness spoilt a chance of a knock-out. His attack in the second round staggered his opponent, who missed a wild swing, and fell through the ropes. The New Zealander continued to force the pace in the third round, but
the Australian's cautious boxing nullified his attempts to score. Ackworth was sent down again in the fourth round by a right to the chin. He took heavy punishment throughout the fifth round, when two rights to the jaw sent him down for a count of nine. In the sixth round the referee intervened and awarded the decision to Trowern.—A. and N.Z.
