EMPIRE

“THE RAT”

Since “Woman to Woman." and later “The Passionate Adventure,” the name of Graham Cutts as a director signifies a picture with the highest enter tainment Quality. Now comes his supreme effort, “The Rat,” the film version of the outstanding Broadway play.

Mae Marsh, Ivor Novello, and Isabel Jeans take the principal parts, and to say they do their parts justice is to put it mildly. Ivor Novello is nothing short of marvellous in the title role, and Mae Marsh and Isabel Jeans equal his great achievement. Nobody should miss seeing “The Rat,” which will have its final screening at the Empire Theatre to-night, for it will go down in picture history as one of the year’s outstanding productions. Appearing as a tipsy butler in support of Rod La Rocque, in the comedy-mystery-drama “Bachelor Brides,” which will also be shown for the last time to-night, Lucien Littlefield is said to give one of the finest impersonations of his screen career. Mr. Littlefield proved himself an excellent comedian in this delightful comedy, starring MrLa Rocque, and featuring Elinor Fair and Julia Faye.
