TE AROHA BATHS
TEPID WATER SUPPLY
appeal to government (f rom Our Own Correspondent) TE AROHA, To-day. At the last meeting of the Te Aroha Chamber of Commerce the question of tepid baths was again discussed. The Hon. W. Nosworthy was w'ritten to °n the subject 'and had a report prepared on the possibility of tapping the Present mineral resources. He pointed put that there was danger of jeopardising the flow into the main baths and that no risks could be taken in that direction. However, the chamber is still unsatisfied that the present cold swimming baths cannot be made tepid ones, and failing satisfaction in a further effort a strong move is to be made to have the water electrically heated.
The chamber in turn wrote to the borough council for support and at this stage the council is ascertaining all details as to cost, etc. It has so far been discovered that the heating of the baths can be made a commercial proposition. It is suggested that the chamber and council each send a deputation to Wellington to make a supreme effort to carry out their desires. A large bath is already in existence in the Domain, but has been allowed to deteriorate until it is now neither use or ornament.
