ROSKILL TRANSPORT
PROTEST BY BOARD
The Mt. Roskill Road Board last night was informed t-he City Council that the licensing authority would be asked to vary the omnibus route, sections, fares and time-table of the Buckland Road service. The chairman stated that the Buckland Road residents were dissatisfied with the time-table and fares. Intending passengers were frequently being left behind owing to overcrowding and he considered the whole of Mount Roskill district was being . unfairly treated in the matter of bus transport. 9 Messrs. Brewer . Foote and Tozer were appointed to represent the board at the meeting of the licensing authority to-day. Authority was given to institute legal proceedings forthwith for the recovery of all overdue ratesThree additional street lights are to be installed in Queenstown Road, and £55 is to be expended on a flight of steps leading from the foot of Hill Street to the beach, despite the opposition of Messrs. Kerr and Robertson, who drew attention to the state of Duke Street. Permits for new buildings valued at £6,250 were approved. Thirty buildings are in course of erection in the district. The general account is on the debit side to the amount of £5.200 3s 9d. At the request of the Mount Roskill East Ratepayers’ Association the board agreed to defer for one month whether any outside party should be allowed to join the present eastern drainage scheme.
