GREAT BINGEN
TRIED OUT YESTERDAY
WHEN ADDINGTON STOPPED WORK
(Special to THE SUK.) CHKISTCILURCffI, Tuesday. There was a kind of stop-work meeting when Great Bingen stepped on the track at Addington to-day. After a little jogging brush over two furlongs he was walked about for a few minutes. Then he was dispatched on a mission over trtro miles. Great Bingen left the mark at a moving start, and reached the first furlong in 19, quarter in 35, the half
mile in 1.8. Before reaching the six furlong disc Logan Holme went away in front of him. Great Bingen passed the mile disc in 2.14 1-5, 10 furlongs In 2.47 1-5, and here a galloping pace maker was in attendance. Great Bingen’s speed increased as he flashed past the mile and a half peg In 3.19, and he got to the mite and three quarters in 3.53, and to the mile and seven furlongs in 4.9. He then commenced to tire, taking 18 3-5 to complete the last furlong. The full time for the entire journey was 4.27 2-5, the last mile being done in 2.13 1-5. Logan Holme was quite 10 lengths behind the champion at the finish. Great Bingen is a trifle big in condition, but is in elegant order to receive the concluding work of his Cup preparation. With two races at Greymouth next week and subsequent track essays, he will be in perfect order for the supreme contest in November. Just as Great Bingen began his assignment the wind increased and had an adverse effect on him going along the back stretch, but assisted him down the lane home.
