LABOUR DAY AND ITS PROMISE FOR THE NEW SEASON

With suitable tides and another sample of spring Bunshine and a nice S.W. breeze to urge them on, owners made a great clearance of craft from slipways all around the harbour during the week-end. Dozens of boats, both yachts and launches, are now afloat for the new season and one or two even ventured away on cruises. The Labour Day week-end will see many cruising and fishing parties heading down the harbour for various parts of the gulf, and it is only to be hoped that the weather holds good. There was quite a small fleet of small fry up at Pine Island on Sunday, the sunshine tempting yachtsmen and their families out for a picnic. The first actual race of the season, the Richmond Club’s cruising race for mullet boats, will be held on Monday probaly to Arkle’s Bay. The race will start off the Ponsonby wharf. A meeting of the club is being held to-night to arrange the details. There were 14 entries last year and another good muster is anticipated. * * * BOATS AFLOAT Mr. E. J.
