Selecting Winners at Alexandra Park

THE SUN’S COMPETITION TWO ENTRANTS PICK THE CARD THE popularity of THE SUN racing skill competition was again fully demonstrated during the week-end, when approximately 37,000 coupons were received in connection with the trotting contests at Alexandra Park. Two competitors succeeded in "picking the cards,” a remarkable performance, and divide th.e £2O prize. The winners are: A. D. PAGE, of 79 Queen Street, Auckland, and G. A. CLARK, of 10 Hinemoa Road, Grey Lynn. The former picked all the winners in one attempt, the latter sending in three coupons, with two, five and eight wins respectively. That two out of such a number of competitors should be successful shows that though the task was a most difficult one it was not an impossibility. The winners of the eight events were: Floraline, Amaris, Machine Gun. Daphne de Oro. The Shrew, All Bell. Young Blake, Nelson Tasker. WELL IN THE RUNNING The next most successful antictpa tor was B. A. Cruller, of Grey Lynn, whose coupon revealed six winners. Floraline, Amaris, Daphne de Oro. The Shrew, Young Blake and Nelson Tasker. His other two selections. Tom Thumb and Sea Pearl, each ran second. The following 11 entrants selected winners in five events: H. Mills, City; F. Boyed, Mount Albert; T. W. Sullivan, City; F. H. Beacham, Moruingside; A. Weaver, Onehunga; J. H. Chapman. Point Chevalier; B. Barrett, Epsom; J. Wilkinson, Epsom; G. N. Wood, Remuera; D. Watts, Mount Eden; and A. Fowles, Hamilton. POPULAR SELECTIONS Amaris, Daphne de Oro, The Shrew and Nelson Tasker were the most popular selections of those who saluted the judge, but the defection of Tom Thumb. Raima, Sea Pearl and Betty Moko put a lot of competitors well back. The two successful competitors are requested to call at THE SUN Office, when the prize money will be paid over.
