“THE FLAG LIEUTENANT”
A THRILLING ROMANCE The flag lieutenant is the officer specially attached to the admiral of the fleet. He is a lieutenant, but of a little higher rank, as is disclosed by the narrow gold strips placed between the two wider ones denoting his rank. He also wears other distinguishing marks, which show’ his status aboard ship. Played by Henry Edwards, a romance has been woven round one of these officers. It will be seen on the screen as “The Flag Lieutenant," a thrilling romance of the navy in which a flag lieutenant makes a great sacrifice which almost means disgrace. In addition, there is the Australian actress, Dorothy Seacombe, in the cast. The picture, made by Astre National, and released as a Paramount British release picture, was produced with full Admiralty co-operation. "The Flag Lieutenant" comes to the screen in a few short w’eeks at the Regent Theatre, Auckland. The preview of the first short subjects to be released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer indicates that the short product emanating from the lion’s lair may be expected to maintain a high standard of excellence.
