NEW CITY RESERVES
COMMENDABLE FORESIGHT PARKS COMMITTEE VISIT “The people who kept these reserves for the future are to be congratulated on their foresight. They will, as time goes by, be a wonderful asset to the city.” TMIIS was the impression of Cr. F. W. H. Brinsden, after he and members of the Parks Committee yesterday afternoon visited the reserves which have come under city control by the amalgamation of Avondale. The committee visited Karaka Bay, Green Bay and Blockhouse Bay. “Karaka Bay has a nice little beach, but I was particularly struck with the Blockhouse Bay reserve, and there is a splendid beach there,” remarked Cr. Brinsden to THE SUN. The committee is considering what steps can be taken immediately to improve these reserves in the Avondale area, and has in mind constant improvements over a period of years.
