TITIRANGI OPEN TOURNEY COMMENCES ON SATURDAY The amateur open tournament arranged by the Maungakiekie Club will commence at Titirangi on Saturday, entries closing at 5 p.m. to-morrow. The main feature on Saturday will be a 36-hole medal, in conjunction with which in the afternoon an 18-hole medal handicap will be played. ' The best gross score in the 36-hole event will win the Hislop Cup, and the best net scores will qualify for the Titirangi Cup, which will be played off on handicap match play. All players not qualifying will be drawn in groups of eight and will play off in handicap match play. Monday will see the first and second rounds, and Tuesday the semi-finals and finals of all the groups and the Titirangi Cup. In addition there will be a bogey handicap on Monday morning, and a medal competition in the afternoon. There will be a bogey handicap on Tuesday morning and a four-ball in the afternoon. Glendowie Ladies The Glendowie Ladies’ Golf Club held its annual meeting and presentation of prizes at the clubhouse. There was a good attendance of members. The following officers were elected:—Captain, Miss E. Friar; hen. secretary, Mrs. Trice (re-elected); committee. Mrs. F. Brov/r.e. Mrs. Hill, Miss D. Brookfield, Miss V. Arneil. During the afternoon the prizes were presented by the retiring captain, Miss M. Hill. The championship was won by Mrs. F. Browne, who holds the Blanc Cup for The winner of the Cameron cup and bronze medal has not yet been decided. The captain's prize was won by Miss Friar. Te Awamutu Club (From Our Oion Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, Monday. The final of the Te Awamutu Golf Club's championship was won by M. Otway, who defeated D. Williams, 7 and C. A Canadian mixed foursome resulted in a win for Mrs. Peake and M. Otway, 87—18, 69. The first player to hole in one on the present links -was M. Barnett, who holed his tee shot at No. 1, a distance of 160yds, on Saturday. Thames Championship (From Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, Monday. The senior championship final of the Thames Golf Club was played on Saturday between E. J. Clendon and R. Dodd, over 27 holes. At the 18th tee Dodd was 2 up, but Clendon did the next six holes in fours and won the match, 4 and 3. The winner has been president of the club for many years, and has been largely responsible for its success. Teasdale gained a well-earned victory over Berry in the junior championship by jinking a 20ft. putt at the 18th, which gave him the match, 1 up.
