RUGBY SEASON ENDS AT PUKEKOHE
PONSONBY TEAM’S VISIT VISITORS’ SPECTACULAR PLAY The Rugby football season at Pukekohe was concluded yesterday, when the Ponsonby seniors met a combined team representing the Pukekohe and Franklin Unions. Ponsonby won by 37 points to 11. Pukekohe-Franklin maintained a strong challenge throughout, -but for three parts of the game Ponsonby did all the scoring. The game was fast and spectacular. In the final quarter, L. Paewai, of the Pukekohe-Franklin inside backs, broke through, C. Crotty scoring. The other scorers for Pukekohe-Franklin were: I. Cathcart and Massey, while J. Wright converted a try. For the winners tries were secured by L. Wood (2), McWilliams (2), Hook (2), Lucas, Palmer and Righton. Berridge converted two and McWilliams three.
