SPRING CLEANING IN CITY AND SUBURB
OPRING cleaning is very much in the air at present.
When father returns home each evening he is called upon to smack the carpets which have been hung over the clothes-line by a dutiful wife. Then there is the “brighter Queen Street” movement, which seems to be one of the principal spring activities. One city bank has blossomed out in virginal white, with applegreen window-frames, and another has the painters busy on it. Several business houses are losing their drabness, as the painters ply their brushes. One will be a rich cream when they have finished.
White seems to be the favourite colour, and no doubt spurs the people next door to get busy with their new scheme of decoration. Contrasts are always effective.
