INDIAN JUTE CONCERNS

NEW FIELD FOR INVESTORS British Wireless—Press Assn. —Copyright RUGBY, Saturday. A new field for British investors is opened by the announcement that a market is about to be started on the London Stock Exchange in the shares of some of the Calcutta jute companies. Two of the leading jobbers in tea shares will introduce them. The capitals of these jute companies are in rupee form, but to facilitate and simplify transactions in London, dealing will be on a sterling basis. For instance, shares of 100 rupees each will be nominally equivalent to shares of £7 10s each. The jute industry is subject to considerable fluctuations so that the shares must be regarded as coming within the category of speculative investments.—A. and N.Z.
