Rival Aborigine Bands Fight Savage Battle With Spears
ONE KILLED-MANY WOUNDED By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. PERTH, To-day. A FIERCE battle between rival tribes of aboriginals was fought on the Goondadoo Plain, in’ the far North-West, when a quarrel developed between two members of rival factions over the possession of a woman named Lubia. A trial of strength and skill between two men, to decide whom should possess her, failed to yield a decisive result. Then the two tribes commenced to fight. Spears hurtled through the air, and one man was killed and many seriously wounded before the melee ended. The police later arrived on the scene, but were unable to gain any information, as the members of the warring tribes had taken to the hush.—A. and N.Z.
