FAST RAILWAY RUN

RECORD FOR 300 MILES LONDON-CARLISLE EXPRESS By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Thursday. A world’s record run was made by the Scotch express, which ran from London to Carlisle, a distance of 300 miles, in 6 hours 6 minutes.—A. and N.Z. It was reported on September 27 that the London, Midland and Scottish Railway had inaugurated a non-stop run of 299 J miles between Carlisle and London at an average speed of 52 miles an hour, as a feature of their daily train service to and from Scotland. The prior world’s record run was on the London and NorthWestern Railway, 268 miles, from Newcastle to London. Another long run is from Paddington to Plymouth, 225 miles. The longest non-stop runs previously made on the British railway routes are as follow:
