ELLERSLIE NOTES
TO-DAY’S GALLOPS QUIET MORNING’S WORK There was a little galloping: at Ellerslie this morning, though nothing in the way of fast times was recorded. The light rain which fell during the night, and also while track work was carried out, made the going on No. 3 grass track (on which most of the gallops were recorded) very greasy. Gala Day and Thursby were running on at the finish of half a mile, taking 51 4-5. Antrim Boy moved freely to leave four furlongs behind in 51, Bombarber and R;oyal Lover registering the same time for the same distance. The Crier finished in front of Serang and Brampton after getting over five furlongs in 3.6. Levenside ran the last five of six furlongs in 1.8, and was going nicely at the finish. Valsier and Nassock were timed to do 55 for four furlongs, and Modest Boy 43 for the last three of five furlongs. The Lover and Corinax took 51 for half a mile, and Pompieus and Piet 52 1-5 for a similar journey. With Tidal as a, companion, Whakarite strode over six furlongs, taking 1.20 3-5. Abbey Day and Ahi Ngaro w’ere on terms at the end of four furlongs, taking 52 2-5, and Eh Timi registered 53 2-5 for the same distance. Archeno, from a slow start, got over three furlongs in 38. Ponticus and Creation took 1.21 4-5 for six furlongs, and Scot Free 1.21 3-5. Branson was not asked to do his best to take 53 2-5 for four furlongs. On the course proper, after giving Avoneourt a start, Red Lion finished on terms with her, and was ta do 52 1-5 for the four furlongs.
