FAVOURITE WINS TRIAL Press Association. CARTERTON, To-day. The weather was fine, but the sky overcast for the Carterton Racing Club's meeting at Clareville. There was a large attendance and the going was good. Results: TRIAL PLATE 6 furlongs. I—PANTHER. S.B 1 5 SPEARMISS, S.B 2 9—BILLION, S.B 3 All started. Won by half a length, a head between second and third. Time, 1.16 1-5. A Half-length Win All 13 acceptors in the Trial Plate went to the post and Panther and Ring Boy were favourites. Oscillation, a half-brother to Suggestion, got the jump-out, and was followed by Panther and Ring Boy. Panther took charge at the entrance to the straight where Ring Boy was drifting, and eventually Panther won by half a length from Spearmiss, who finished fast. Billion was a neck away third, and Oscillation and Ring Boy next. CARRINGTON HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP 1 mile I—ROWLEY, 10.13 1 4—HYMGREAT, D. 3 2 6 MOEPAI, 9.5 3 Scr.: —Peggy Ford.
