Mr. T. W. Davey arrived from Weiljngton tj the Limited this morning. The Hon. C. T. Carrington, M.L.C., arrived frorr Wellington by the Limited ?his looming. Mr. G J. Bertinshaw, inspecting engineer. New Zealand Railways, arrived from Wellington this morning. Sergeant D. Calwell, who has been transferred to Waihi. will leave Auckland to-morrow to take up his new appointment. Mr. W. R- Lowry, of Morrinsville, has been appointed as the representative n f tlie Piako County Council on the Waikato Hospital Board as successor to tire late Mr. A. A. Wagstaff. Dr. T. W. Johnson was elected to the council of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society last evening to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. X. S. Johnson. Mr. Justice Stringer will leave Auckland for the South Island on October 2i. He will attend sittings of the War Pensions Appeal Board at Christchurch md Dunedin. . Mr. Justice Reed, who will arrive in Auckland on October 23. will, in conjunction with Mr. Justice Herdman, conduct the criminal sessions opening on October 25. Mr. J. W. Poynton. S.M., is at present on leave from the Justice Department for heall ii reasons. Mr. Poynton’s condition recently showed some improvement, but his medical adviser has ordered' complete rest and relief from official duties. Squadron Leader A. Cunningham, D. 5.0., M.C.. D.F.C., A.F.C., R.A.F.. has assumed command of Cranwell Airdrome, vice Wing-Commander B. M. Murray, D. 5.0., M.C.
