EPSOM TO-MORROW

VV HILE the new trotting ’ T season was opened in August with the New Zealand Metropolitan fixture at Christchurch, and Wellington last month was privileged to set the ball in motion in the North Island, the honour of ushering in activities in this province rests with the Auckland Club, which has provided a well coloured card for its spring fixture, opening at the beautiful Alexandra Park grounds to-morrow. While the fields will not be in any way unwieldy, the class represented in both the trotting and pacing sections is of a high and the sport throughout promises to be of an exciting nature. Additional attraction is given to the occasion by the staging of the Great Northern Derby, which now ranks as the first classic of the year.
