PLUNKET CARNIVAL AT TE AWAMUTU
~ HARD-UP SOCIAL A hard-up social, promoted in the interests of the Xielsen-Baker babies, candidates for the Plunket carnival, took place at Te Awamutu on Wednesday. The costumes worn were both unique and amusing. Splendid music for dancing was supplied by Misses J. T. Bell, and T. Vaile, while Messrs. Wilson and O. Finch acted as masters of ceremonies. During the evening Mrs. H. V. Nielsen gave a vocal contribution. A GARDEN PARTY Ideal weather was experienced on Wednesday, when a garden party was held in Dr. F. C. Blundell’s grounds in aid of the Locke-Williains babies. There was a good attendance, the stallholders having a busy time. Following are the competition results: —Baby Show', for babies six months and under, Ngaere Ramsbottom, four months old, 1. Babies, 12 months and under, Nita Williams, 1. Babies two years and under, Roy Collings, 14 months, 1. Clock Golf, Mrs. F. C. Blundell, 1. Box of Chocolates, Mrs. H. Andrew, 1.
