Disgusted With French Doubts
WOMAN’S CHANNEL SWIM A SPIRITED REPLY Bp Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 11.55 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. Dr. Dorothy Logan makes an emphatic reply to the French allegations about her swim across the English Channel. She says she is disgusted with the bad sportsmanship, and amazed at the scepticism expressed. She said: "It is absolute rot to take a legal official in the boat. I have always advocated the appointment of real experts, or at any rate a number of responsible persons in the boat, whose word, I hope, Is honoured.” She is most indignant at the French newspapers' statement that i! is impossible, for an unknown swimmer to have beaten the time of Gertrude Ederie, the best woman swimmer in the 'world. Dorothy's reply is: "Who says Gertrude Ederle is the best in the world? Who says t am unknown, after spending 13 hours in a rough sea lest year, and breaking all land and sea records?” —A. and N.Z. .
