MISSIONS IN AFRICA
WORK OF SALVATION ARMY COMMISSIONER'S LECTURE “SPHERE is no such thing as a white man s Christianity; it belongs to ail nations.” “That is why the Salvation Army, in conjunction with other Christian Churches, is carrying the gospel to all nations of the earth. With these words Commissioner J. Hay prefaced an illustrated lecture on mission work of the Salvation Army in Africa, given in the Scots Hall last evening. The commissioner showed an excellent and varied collection of lantern views depicting the life and customs of the peoples and tribes with whom he had come in contact. Scenes in many of the large cities, and the work of the Army there were vividly described by the lecturer. Pictures of little native children were much appreciated by the large audience. Many slides illustrated the magnificent scenery of the continent. As an indication of the good work being carried out by the Army the corporation of a large city had decided to make an annual grant of £2,000 toward its funds.
