CRICKET CAPTAIN
SURPRISE SELECTION TOUR IN SOUTH AFRICA By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Wednesday. The "Daily Mail” says the Marylebono Cricket Club has caused a surprise in the world of cricket by its selection of Mr. Ronald T. Stanyforth as captain of the team that will tour South Africa, in place of Mr. G-. R. Jackson, of Derbyshire, who is prevented from going by illness. Although Mr. Stanyforth was successful as an Army batsman, and accompanied Mr. P. F. Warner’s team in the Argentine, his name is unknown to most followers of first-class cricket.— Sun.
