WHITE MAN KILLED CHINESE FATALLY ATTACKED J3y Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. SUVA, Wednesday. No further news has been received of the massacre in the Solomon Islands of a District Commissioner, Mr. Bell, and a cadet, Mr. Gillies, and several native police. It is significant that in a mail received from the Solomon Islands today the murder is reported of a Chinese by a Malaita. labourer on another island, who cut his victim's throat and inflicted other injuries. There has also been a fatal attack by a Malaita labourer on a white overseer on a lonely island. A third case, which did not result in a fatality, is that of a Malaita labourer who bit his employer’s hand and severad a finger. The settlers demand an investigation, which they say is imperative. The manager at Tulagi for the Burns, Philp Company has reported that apparently the report regarding a possible native rising has been exaggerated. The position at Guadalcanar Island and other places was perfectly normal, and there was no cause for anxiety.—A. and X.Z.
