Wairoa Meat Company. —Mr. H. N. Taylor, of Napier, has been appointed secretary of the Wairoa Farmers” Meat Com pany.
Hospital Appointment. —The Wairoa Hospital Board has appointed Mr. R. A. Peer, of Ashburton, secretary, out of 42 applications.
Yacht Racing Challenges. —Challenges for both the Sanders and Cornwell Cups were issued at the first meeting of the new season of the Otago Yacht Association.—Press Association.
Island-bound. —Alice Swanson, aged 34, charged at the Police Court to-day with being idle and disorderly, was ordered to come up for sentence, on condition that she applied to go to Pakatoa. Brink was said to be her trouble.
Choral Society Formed. —Netherton residents have decided to form a choral society. Messrs. R. Adams, A. R. Morrison, J. W. Welch, Mrs. Scudamore and Miss Matthews were appointed a committee and more than 20 members were enrolled.
Wharf for Pollck. —Settlers from the remote district of Pollok, on the southwestern shore of Manukau Harbour, approached the Auckland Harbour Board, during its tour of inspection in the Waiuku district yesterday, with a request for improved wharf facilities. The board agreed to contribute £2,000, on condition that the settlers raised £SOO. •
