A general attack has been launched by Marshal Chang Tso-iin’s Fengtien troops with the object of subjugating the Shansi rebels, whose advance last week threatened Peking;. The attack is being made on three points and is reported tc be progressing fitciob'jly. Fifteen hundred Shansi guerillas were discovered within the Fengtien lines. They intended to make a surprise attack on Peking but were betrayed and massacred. The Shansi army is reported to be crumbling.—A. and N.Z.
