Epsom Tracks are in Good Order WORK THIS MORNINC, VISITORS LOOKING WELL The tracks were in excellent Older at Alexandra Park this mornin, but there was very little fast work accomplished. A fevr early birds whistled along dodging the watchers, but after breakfast there was a good attendance of interested spectators. From the light work which filled the gveater part of the operations, it was difficult to realise a fixture was in sight on Saturday. AN EARLY BIRD Dick Dillon worked attractively over 16 furlongs, the pace being turned on over the concluding stages. Dick finished as if he may require a race to tune him up. Black Lila was geared up and dispatched over a mile at a useful rate. Th'S black mare was moving nicely, but had to be hunted along to reach the tape. A PLEASING PAIR Jewel Pointer and Amaris were among the early visitors and stepped over a two-mile course. The first half-mile was negotiated at a useful pace, and from there on the speed was on. Jewel Pointer had his nos* in front at the wire, after a rousing display. Both horses pleased immersely an«i are in excellent condition. NOT OUT TO MAKE TIME Delavan Bill with his youthful rider, N. Craig on deck, slipped over eight furlongs free-legged and did his work well. He appears to relish the youngster being in the saddle. 13. Tanner has arrived from Waihi with Oliver Thorpe, and gave the gelding several circuits without fully extending him. The son of Our Thorpe is a solid-looking customer that will require racing to tune him up. He has not yet sported silk. Luvan, looking nice and bright, was given an easy task on the lead. The mare has come on again during the last few days, and is in better condition for her tasks on Saturday. Her stable mate, Medusa, the Derby candidate, was also allotted jogging work. BUZ BUZ BUZZES ALONG
Buz Buz (S. August) and Lord Nepean (F. Young) hopped out after breakfast for three circuits, and both pacers went at a good clip. Bus; Buz was pulling hard, and over the concluding stages showed a fine burst of speed. The Shrew, who looks a real picture, was not asked to go against the watch, but it is evident she has* been nicely timed up. Her companion, Raima, a good-looking trotter, also impressed. GOOD LOOKING DERBY COLT
All eyes were focussed on the Derby candidate. Vestas, who with W. J. Tomkinson in the sulky, was allowed to step along free-legged. He is a handsome aristocratic-looking gentleman, and has a fine action. Although not fully extended he impressed, despite the fact that he appeared to be lc oking for an excuse to do something wrong. ALL LOOKING WELL Holly Boy, the handsome black, had the war paint on and was hustled over a few circuits, but his driver was £.t him all the way and then the black did not relish his work. Concliff was jogged in company with Young Blake. Both horses bear evidence of a. good preparation, and the former’s fine appearance was favourably commented on by onlookers. FREE ADVICE MOVES NICELY Free Advice, with the unnamed Blue Mountain King—Elsa Huon gelding as a companion, moved pleasingly over three circuits, and while sne did not gain any supporters for the Derby there were many who noted the filly for future reference. C. Olliver gave Wild Lad several rounds at a strong pace and th2 aged sion of Wildraoor —Miss Vera tit out solidly. He has not been in the money for several seasons, and may i find it hard now.
