NORTH SHORE EXPANSION
MEETING AT MILFORD The plan of the North Shore Expansion League to line up the whole of the North Shore for a big co-operative effort to attract more population is appealing strongly to the citizens of the marine boroughs, and the league is taking steps to have the plan of advancement made familiar to all the ratepayers and citizens in its territory. Last evening a meeting was held in the Pieturedrome, at Milford, in conjunction with the Milford Progressive Association to explain the league objects. Mr. J. Minogue presided. Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of Devonpert, made a plea for a fuller realisation by the Shore of its great advantages and a readiness; to make them known to outsiders. The local bodies had met the league very well; Devonport voting £25, Takapuna £ls, toe Power Board £3O, and the commercial films were lining up also. Mr. J. Williamson, Mayor of Takapuna, emphasised the need for the league. The absolute certainty of success, if common-sense business methods wefe followed, was pointed out by Mr. T. Walsh, chairman of the Waitemata Chamber of Commerce. Many of the community advertising efforts launched in New Zealand had been failures because the tendency had been to rely on “hot air” methods and ignore fundamental business principles. Mr. O. Moller, of Bayswater, added his plea for hearty support for the l€:ague. ..
