“DISSOLVE THE EMPIRE”
COMMUNIST AMBITION CANDID IRISHMAN By Calls.—Press Association.—C p:night LONDON, Sunday. The annual conference of the British Communist Party was opened to-day at Manchester. It was announced taut the membership of the oarty is now 7,377, a reduction of 3,£00 compare! with last year. Mr. H. Pollitt made a bitter attack upon the Labour Party. He said the policy of the Blackpool conference was clearly intended to prepare for a coalition or a mutual understanding between the leaders of the Liberal and Labour parties at or after the next general election. That was a gross betrayal of every Socialist principle. Other delegates attached the Independent Labour Party. Some described the tactics of the Blackpool conference as “a disgusting and humiliating exhibition.” Mr. Jim Larkin, the well-known Irish Communist, fraternally greeted the conference on behalf of the Irish revolutionary working-class. He said: “I am here to bring this Empire to a dissolution. It is most essential for the sake of the Empire’s suffering mil- | lions and for the sake of the workers in Britain. China and India, to abolish bayonet rule. When the Imperialists | attack the Soviet we will be in action j a few moments after the declaration of war.”—A. and N.Z.
