BURGLARY AT DEVONPORT
A POOR HAUL FOR THIEVES Two shops at the junction of Lake J*oad and Old Lake Road were broken into last night, apparently for meagre returns. The premises, which adjoin, "ere occupied hv Scott’s, Ltd., butchers, and Mr. Hartley, fruiterer. In each case a smal pane of glass in the front door was broken. The occupiers had cleared the tills before locking up. but Mr. Scott states that about 5s worth of meat was takeiV from his shop. None of the fruiterer s “took appears to have been touched. « A bus driver coming on duty at G this morning reported the incident-; to the Devonport police. Devonport has been remarkably free from burglars’ attentions for the last tour years. In 1923 a series of offences "'as sheeted h«>nie to “Soldier” Thompson. who had previously been acquainted with the police.
