CHORAL SOCIETY’S CONCERT An ev'ent of considerable importance in Auckland musical circles will be the choral presentation of Mascagni's opera. “Cavalleria Rusticana.” at the Town Hall on Thursday, October 20. The opera being only in one act it is generally played in conjunction with another work. On this occasion it will be preceded by a presentation of “Weber’s Mass in G.” In the hands of a strong chorus, supported by an imposing list of soloists, Mascagni’s virile and passionate opera and the more subdued music of the Mass should both receive excellent treatment. The soloists will be Miss IStta Field and Miss Alma McGruer. sopranos. Miss Phyllis Hazel, contralto: Mr. Hubert Carter, tenor; and Mr. Frank Sutherland, bass.
