SALVATION ARMY’S ACTIVITIES
KOREAN MISSIONARY’S VISIT At the Salvation Army Hall on Thursday afternoon a large crowd was present to welcome Adjutant Battersby who, as medical dispensing nurse had spent seven years In Korea The Mayoress, Mrs. W. H. Sand ford presided. After Mrs. Keucke introduced the Mayoress to the meeting, Mr. Griffin opened the proceedings with prayer which was followed by the Mayoress welcoming Adjutant Battersby to Kaetihi. In the course of an interesting: and brilliant address, Adjutant Battersby outlined the activities of the Salvation Army in Korea, anrl stated that the welfare of the waif and stray children was one of their earnest considerations. They had homes established for them, and the Army, in all spheres of its activities, was doing a great work in that country. The address was attentively listened to, and at the conclusion the Mayoress sincerely thanked the speaker fcr the inspiring address she had given. After a dainty afternoon tea had been served the meeting terminated. In the evening in the Salvation Army Hall, Adjutant Battersby gave another interesting address. There was a good attendance and a collection was taken up which will be handed over to the children’s effort on behalf of the selfdenial fund.
