KAPONGA FROM NEWCASTLE. —The Kaponga left Newcastle on Saturday morning with coal and timber for Auckland. She la due next Friday. HORORATA AT LONDON. —An arrival at London last Friday was the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Hororata from Wellington. She sailed from Wellington on August 30. RUAHINE AT PANAMA.—The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruahine is reported to have reached Panama last Friday. She sailed from Auckland for Southampton and London on September 17. CAMBRIDGE AT NEW YORK.—The Federal Line steamer Cambridge, which sailed from Auckland on September 7 for New York, Boston, London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, is reported to have reached New York last Friday. KAIAPOI LEAVES HOBART.—The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the cargo steamer Kaiapoi, en route from Bunbury, left Hobart at 2 p.m. last Friday for Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due here next Saturday. ISLAND FRUIT STEAMER.—The Union Company advises that the Island fruit steamer Waipahi is _ expected to arrive at Auckland on Wednesday from the Cook Islands, and should leave on Friday for Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Atiu and Mauke. HAURAKI REPORTS—The Union Company has been advised by radio that the motor-ship Hauraki is expected to arrive at Auckland next Sunday from the Pacific Coast ports. The vessel has cargo for discharge at Auckland. Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. WAITE MATA AT VANCOUVER.Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that the Waitemata arrived at Vancouver on Wednesday from Sydney. The vessel will load there and at Powell River, Union Bay and Ocean Falls, and is expected to clear the lastnamed port next Wednesday for San Francisco. She is to clear San Francisco on October 21 for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney.
TAINUI’S “ALL WELL.”—A wireless message received on Friday evening from the Shaw, Savill arid Albion liner Tainui stated she was 650 miles east of Wellington, and was experiencing fine weather. The message also stated all was well on board. The Tainui was dispatched from Wellington on Tuesday evening for Southampton and London via Panama.
BARON BELHAVEN REPORTS. —The steamer Baron Belhaven has reported by wireless to Messrs. R.. Millar and Company that she will arrive from Chile next Saturday. The vessel has a cargo of nitrates. She will unload 950 tons at Auckland and the remainder at Sydney and other Australian ports. CANADIAN SCOTTISH REPORTS. — A wireless message received from the Canadian Scottish states she will arrive from Montreal at noon to-morrow. She is bringing general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. Cargo for Auckland will be unloaded at Prince’s Wharf. THE QUEEN ELEANOR. —Cabled news has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Queen Eleanor, en route from Montreal, left Newport News on Wednesday, with general cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Melbourne and Sydney. The vessel is due at Auckland on November 6. CORINTHIC CLEARED PANAMA.— The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Corinthic is reported to have cleared Balboa last Friday in continuation of her voyage from London. The vessel has passengers and mail for New Zealand and cargo for discharge at Wellington and Auckland. She is scheduled to reach Wellington on October 24 and Auckland a week later.
TUTANEKAI RETU RNIN G.— I The Government steamer Tutanekai, which has been searching on the coast for the missing launch Speedwell, will return to Auckland to-day. She wffi berth at Prince s Wharf.
CANADIAN PROSPECTOR re. PORTED.—En route from Auckland to New York, Boston and Montreal, the Canadian Prospector is reported to have reached Panama last Friday. She sailed from Auckland on September 6.
MARYLAND ON WEDNESDAY Messrs. Robert Miliar and Company a’dvise that they hope to dispatch' the tramp steamer Maryland on Wednesday next for Westport for bunkers, before proceeding to the islands to load a of phosphates, probably for Auckland. The Maryland arrived at Auckland at the beginning of last week with raw sugar from Java.
TURAKINA'S ROUGH TRlP.—After a very rough trip across the Pacific, the iNew - Zealand Shipping' Company's steamer Turakina arrived at Auckland shortly alter ten o’clock this mormn°from West of Great Britain ports, berthing at noon at Prince’s Wnari. The Turakina loaded steel and iron goods, besides a large quantity of general merchandise, at Glasgow, Avonmouih, and Liverpool, and sailed finally from the lastnamed on September 3. The weather was fine across the Atlantic, and the vessel arrived at Colon on the morning of September 15). She cleared the canal the same afternoon, and had no sooner entered the Pacific when a heavy westerly swell was encountered, accompanied by strong gales from that direction. The iron and steel goods packed in the bottom of the hold made the steamer roll more than she would have done ordinarily, and the crew spent a very miserable time for a few days. Conditions improved after a time, and fair progress was made. When nearing New Zealand the wind went round to the southwest, and the Turakina commenced to Pitch and roll again. The head wind and rough seas delayed the vessel’s arrival by a few hours. Captain J. Hamilton is in command, and the following are his officers: Chief, Mr. A. E. Taylor; second, Mr. H. S. PAKEHA’S ITINERARY.—The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the steamer Pakeha leaves Timaru to-day for Port Chalmers, thence Bluff, Lyttelton and Wellington to complete her loading, and is scheduled to sail finally from the last-mentioned port on October 28 for London via Montevideo and Teneriffe. MATAROA AT NEW PLYMOUTH.— A. S. Paterson and Company have been advised that the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa arrived at New Plymouth yesterday from Lyttelton and leaves on Wednesday for Wellington, Napier and Auckland to complete her loading. She is due here on October 24, and sails finally from this port at daybreak on October 29 for Southampton and London via Panama. WEST NIVARIA ARRIVES.—With over a million feet of lumber besides a large quantity of wall board and gasolene, the American-Australia-Qrient Line steamer West Nivaria arrived Auckland at half-past six this from Pacific Coast ports of America and berthed two hours later at King's Wharf to commence discharge. The vessel loaded at Vancouver, Portland, Oregon, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. She left 'Frisco on September 10 and sailed finally from San Pedro four days later. Very fine weather was experienced for the run across the Pacific until about four days ago when strong south-westerly winds were encountered, holding the vessel back considerably and delaying her arrival by 18 hours. Otherwise the trip was of an uneventful nature. The West Nivaria has been trading in the Pacific Coast ports-New Zealand run for the last three years, and arrived at Auckland last on June 9 this year. She returned to America via Southern ports and loaded for her present trip. Captain G. Hagberg retains command and associated with him are the following officers: Chief, Mr. E. M. Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd., the local agents, advise that they hope to dispatch the West Nivaria on Thursday next for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, Bluff and Wanganui. ROTORUA ARRIVES.—ShortIy before 6 o’clock last evening the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua arrived in the stream at Auckland from London and Southampton via Curacao, Panama and Pitcairn Island. She was berthed later at the Queen’s Wharf to land 343 passengers, as well as mail for New Zealand, also a large quantity of general merchandise for Auckland. The remainder of the cargo is for Wellington. When the vessel was berthing at Southampton to embark passengers she bumped heavily against the dock and dented a plate on the starboard side above the water line. In consequence she was delayed a day while repairs were being effected. She sailed from Southampton on September 3, and reached Colon on September 17. After passing through the Canal she stayed an extra day at Balboa, where further repairs were effected to the damaged plate. The voyage was resumed on the afternoon of September 19. Exceptionally fine weather prevaild on the voyage until the vessel was about a week from Auckland. Boisterous weather with rough seas, was then encountered. The wind at first blew with gale force from the east-nortli-east, and afterwards the storm changed to the west-north-west, and delayed the steamer’s arrival by a few hours. MELBOURNE STEAMER.— The Union Company advises that the passenger steamer Manuka arrived at Bluff this morning from Melbourne, and leaves tonight for Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on Saturday and sails next Monday for Melbourne direct. WESTMORELAND SAILS TO-MOR-ROW.—At daybreak to-morrow the New Zealand Shipping Company hopes to dispatch the Federal steamer Westmoreland from Auckland bound for London via Panama. HINEMOA LEAVES NIUE ISLAND.— Advice received by Spedding. Limited, states that the Government steamer Hinemoa sailed from Niue Island last Saturday for Auckland, where ;she is due on Saturday next. She leaves here the following Monday for Norfolk Island.
