ARRIVED 63 YEARS AGO To-day is the 63rd anniversary of the arrival at Auckland of the ship Columbus with 18.) colonists from England on board. The only surviving colonists are believed to l>e Messrs. Archibald and James Thomas, who for many years were well-known mine-managers at Thames. The Columbus arrived in Auckland on October 10, 1864, after a good voyage of 115 days from the Downs. The vessel was commanded by Captain Itob€?rt Adis.
