Aussie Completes a Double Sffi MANLY BEATS BIG FIELD T'HE Auckland Racing Club was again favoured with fine weather, and the concluding day of its spring meeting was held in the presence of a large attendance. The course was much faster than on Saturday. Following are the results:—

Manly Improves The opening event, the Normanby Handicap, was contested by a big field of 26, and the order of betting was Wild Pigeon £7ll, Alonsoa £565, Manly £538, Judge’s Box £460, and Star God £416. At the start Catamaran, Diamond Queen, Speechless, Value, Good Boy and Bahama were slow away. Manly was the first to show out from Arch Queen, Abbey Day, Ash Tray, Killute. Romantic, Alc nsoa, Speechless and Wild Pigeon, but through the cutting Ash Tray went to the fiont and led past the half -mile from Abbey Day, Arch Queen, Romantic, Diamond Queen, Alonsoa, Wild Pigeon, Judge’s Box and Creation. Ash Tray Led into the straight from Arch Queen. Abbey Day, Manly, Romantic, Alonsoa, Bold Front, Judge’s Box and Killute. Once in line- Manly was not long in hitting the front, and came on to win by a length from Arch Q ueen, with Romantic another length back. Bold Front was a further length off in fourth place, and next were Wild Pigeon, Abbey Day, Star God, Alonsoa, Killute and Daddy’s Girl. MANUKAU HURDLE RACE Of £500; 2 miles 2—ANCHOR (F. Easy for Anchor All started in the Manukau Hurdles, Kendal £1,095, being a hot favourite, with good money for Anchor, £9 38 and York Abbey £BB6. York Abbey, Anchor, Kamehameha and Kendal were in the van at the first fence, where Blajo fell. Up the straight the first time Karamu was leading by three lengths

from Anchor, with Kamehameha, Blue Sky, York Abbey, Kendal, Slump Rahepoto and Town Hall following in that order. At the five furlongs Anchor went

to the front, Karamu. Kamehameha, Blue Sky, Kendal and York Abbey being next. Crossing the top Kamehameha ran up into second place, Anchor going easily in front, and this pair were ten lengths ahead of the nearest, who were led by Karamu, Blue Sky, Kendal, Slump and York Abbey. Anchor had no difficulty in winning by six lengths from the little-fancied Kamehameha, who was eight lengths ahead of Blue Sky. Next to finish were Karamu, Slump, York Abbey, Rahepoto and Town Hall. EPSOM HANDICAP Of £600; 6 furlongs 2 AUSSIE (G. Paul), bg, by Fortafix —Fortune Betty, 4yrs, 9.2, A. Tinker 1 S—TINOKOA (R. Hannon), bk h, by Quin Abbey—Tinopai, 4yrs, 7.4, Foster 2 SCO VENT GARDEN (G. M. Currie), b g, by Absurd—Cherry Mart, 3yrs, 7.4, H. Jones - 3 Also started:— I—Civility, 9.3, R. Aussie’s Repeat Performance Civility was made the medium of a big plunge in the Epsom Handicap, being entrusted with £2,318, against Aussie’s £1,030 and Ballymoy 11. £739. A good start saw Ballymoy 11. jump away in the lead, being followed out by Gold Acre, Civility, Aussie, Finelli, King Emerald and Covent Garden.

At the end of a furlong Finelli had taken charge and led past the halfmile from Aussie, the pair being well clear of Tinokoa, with Gold Acre, Covent Garden, Ballymoy 11., Civility, King Emerald and Grand Knight following in a strung-out field. Finelli was still in the van into the home stretch, Aussie being with her, and Tinokoa, Gold Acre, Covent Garden, Civility and King Emerald next in order. Once in line Aussie quickly settled the leader, and went on to score handsomely by three parts of a length from Tiinokoa, with Covent Garden three lengths off. Civility was a fair fourth, and Grand Knight, Ballymoy 11., High Pitch, King Emerald and Finelli next to cross the mark. KING EDWARD MEMORIAL Of £1,00; 14 miles 2 MASK (G. M.
