WAIKATO VALUES • A keen demand for farm horses is reported from the Waikato by the Hamilton branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd. The firm reports holding a sale at Ohaupo on Friday, when there was a decided improvement in prices. . ~ . MINING NEWS NEW WAIOTAHI.—The manager reports for the week ended October B. The drive hillward for the WaiotahiCambria reef has been advanced 9ft for the week, and there is no change to re - port in the hard rock being penetrated. OH IN EM URL—The superintendent reports: The north face has been extended 15ft on the sulphide ore recently encountered, making a total distance of sS<ft from the Silverstream crosscut. Seven feet of ore is being carried with the drive, but it is evident that a much larger body is contained judging from the strong bands making into each wall. The face is composed almost wholly of sulphide ore which appears to be of similar value to that from which the recent assay of £3B 13s 3d was obtained. Samples are being taken from the reef after every sft of driving, and these will be sent forward for assay.

MOANATAIARI. —The drive on reef from No. 1 winze has been extended sft, a total of 53ft. The footwall portion of the reef driven on averages 2ft wide and is heavily mineralised; also carries blend and silica. Four feet back from the face a small leader Sin wide came out of the footwall and is now running with the reef. This branch carried mineral, ruby, silver, blend and silica. Colours of gold were seen in the main branch. The drive seaward on reef from No. I winze has been driven 4ft a total of 43ft. The reef here at present is 3ft wide and looks very well, carrying a nice mineral blend and silica. Colours of gold were seen in the face. The country rock in this face is very firm and of a splendid class for making gold, being interlaced with quartz string•’ and mineral veins. The drive sea,ward on tnv Caledonia reef has been extended sft, a LOIA I of 34ft. The hanging wall portion of th£ r • cf for a width of 2ft looks well, making mere quartz; all carries nice mineral and silica.. lootwall portion of the reef is still pug and mullock mixed.
