BULLER LEAGUE TEAM ENTERTAINED

THE CODE IN THE SOUTH The visiting Buller Leaguers were entertained evening by the Auckland League Glee Club. The function was considered to be cne of the most successful of its kind held by the club this season and there was a large attendance of representatives and officials from the various brandies of the game. Mr. W. J Hammill, ex-president of the Auckland Rugby League, occupied the chair, and in welcoming the visitors referred to the progress of the code in the Southern districts, stating that it was to the benefit of the game throughout New Zealand that it should progress in quarters where it had previously been weak. The mana; ■■ of the Buller team, Mr. VV. McAlpine, in responding, said that the object of the Buller team in coming to Auckland was to acquire a sound knowledge of the code.
