EVERYBODY’S
“THE COLLEGE BOOB”
Amid the deluge of so-called “college pictures” that have appeared on the screen recently, it is a relief to observe a film that is genuinely reminiscent of true collegiate atmosphere. Lefty Flynn’s newest production, “The College Boob,” which had its first showing yesterday at Everybody’s Theatre, is such a film. The adventures of an amusingly green and unsophisticated freshman who comes to college to be a veterinary, but who turns out to be a football hero instead, forms a delightfully entertaining story, abundant in both comedy and thrillingly graphic football scenes. Flynn himself is noted as one of the best backfield men Yale ever produced, and he lends exceptionally authentic touches to his work on the field. He is peculiarly well-fitted to portray the role, and the result is of the utmost interest, not only to football fans, but to lovers of athletics and action generally. A charming romance is woven into the story, with Jean Arthur as the lovely heroine, and from every standpoint the picture is one of the best Flynn has elver made.
