PRINCE EDWARD

“THE TAXI DANCER” Without doubt, one of the most intriguing pictures of the new season was screened last night at the Prince Edward Theatre, in “The Taxi Dancer.’' “The Taxi Dancer” was directed by Harry Millarde, the producer of “Over the Hill” and “If Winter Comes,” and is based on the novel of the same name by Robert Terry Shannon. Millarde had a difficult task in filming this novel. He has told his intensely dramatic story with a charming and powerful simplicity; his climax is reached naturally, and with a telling effect. Joan Crawford, who has risen to cinematic heights within the past year, plays the title role, that of the carefully reared girl who, when faced with the hardest actualities, is unprepared to meet them. An excellent performance is given by Owen Moore, who plays the part of the goodhearted crook, who reforms in spite of himself through his association with Joslyn. Moore’s sincerity, coupled with his sense of humour, makes him one of the mosts likeable of leading men.

Master Pictures have received word that “The Tired Business Man” has been completed. This story is a farce comedy portraying the various methods used by the American business man to shed business and indulge in the lighter phases of life. The> cast includes Raymond Hitchcock, Mack Swain, Blanche Mehaffey, Dot Farley, Lincoln Plumer, and Gibson Gowland.
