FUTURE OF METHODISM
GREATER THAN ITS PAST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS “HpHE Methodisst Church is trtily a wonderful organisation, and I believe Methodism of the future will be greater than in the past. I would despair if it were not so.” This optimistic prediction was made by the Rev. Dr. H. Ranston at the tea meeting last evening, which closed the celebrations in connection with the 84th anniversary of the establishment of the Methodist Church in Auckland. Dr. Ranston said that although the Methodist Church was not yet 200 years old, it was the largest Protestant church in the world, there being no fewer than 44,000,000 adherents. He made reference to the great work of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, and said the church could do magnificent work in this country if they were true to their principles. The Rev. T. R. Woolloxall and the Rev. L. B. Dalby also gave addresses. During the evening choral and congregational singing was conducted.
