DRUIDS MEET
STAR OF NEWMARKET LODGE The fortnightly meeting of the Star of Newmarket Lodge of Druids was largely attended!, A.D. Bro. Laury presiding. Several candidates v:ere proposed for membership. Two recruits were initiated into the mystic rites of DruidUtn. Congratulations were tendered to' Past 3rand President Bio. Lee Martin, on his success in the Raglan by-elec-tion. A feature of the meeting was the stirring reception accorded the vocal go!ld medallist, Bro. W. Smart. Past District President Bro. Craig, of Lodge Buller, was tendered a cordial welcome by P.D.P. Bro. Potter, P.G.P. Bro. Wade and G.P. Bro. Wilson. At the conclusion o.Z business, a social function was held, the chief item being a musical and elocutionary competition. There were 15 competitors, the judges, after lengthy deliberation, making the awards as follows: —Bro. Polkinghorn. 1; Bro. Howard, 2; Bro. Wilson, 3. The Buller visitor presented the prizes to the successful candidates, congratulating the recipients on their fine performances, the members on their enthusiasm for the order, and the ’octfro on its spirit of co-operation in social and general work.
