“CALIFORNIA” The most romantic period in the history of the United States is depicted in Tim McCoy’s “California,” Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s new historical Western film drama, which is the feature attraction at the Grand Theatre to-night. * Tim McCoy, who was starred in “Winners of the Wilderness” and “War Paint,” is seen in the stellar role of this powerful story of romance, drama, and action which Peter B. Kyne wrote especially for this production. Many of the most celebrated characters of American history at that period have been characterised in the story. There are Captain Gillespie, U.S.M.C.. President Pollk, Captain Fremont, Kit Carson, General Kearney, Pio Pico, and others. The story deals with the American conquest oi California at the time there were several other pair of h inds orepared to grab the rich territory bordering on the Pacific Ocean. It is the romantic tale of dashing American captain of marines, who not only helped to conquer California, but at the same time won the heart and hand of a most beautiful Spanish senorita, whose father opposed the coming of the Americanos.
