“MEMORIAL TO BOTH MAORI AND PAKEHA"

AS the major portion of the coljection in the new War Memorial Museum in Auckland will illustrate the life and history of the Maori people, it is considered appropriate that there should be a Maori ceremony in connection with its official opening. When extending an invitation last evening to the Akairana Maori Association to assist the Museum Council, the Curator, Mr. Gilbert Archey, said: “This museum is si war memorial—it will be a memorial to both Maori and Pakeha soldiers who fell in the war—and this fact must be first and foremost in our minds.”
