“Velos" in Reply

THE SUN’S cycling critic, “Velos,” replies as follows: “There is no misrepresentation concerning the status of the Northern Athletic Union (incorporated) contained in THE SUN’S issue of September 29, 1927. For the Northern Union’s satisfaction, these are the facts: The New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union controls all cash racing competitors in the Dominion. It has done so for years. The Northern Athletic Union (incorporated) controls only the Auckland Province, and not all of that. It is not compelled to affiliate with the parent body, but in the Interests of the sport of cycling it should do so. There is a reciprocal agreement operating between the two bodies at present, but how long it will last depend on the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union Should the governing body decide to recognise the Northern Athletic Union’s licences, there is no need for competitors to worry, but should the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union decide not to do so, then these are the cold facts. No competitor competing in cash events controlled by the Northern Union can compete anywhere else but in the Auckland Province, and not all of that; and no cash competitor controlled by the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union i can compete in the territory controlled i by the Northern Athletic Union
