84TH ANNIVERSARY AUCKLAND CELEBRATIONS The 84th year of the establishment of Methodism in Auckland and the 61st anniversary* of the Pir.t Street Methodist Church were celebrated yesterday when many old people assembled to recall the early days of their church. Two pillars of Methodism in New Zealand for half a century were th-“ Revs. G. Bond and T. G. Carr. They came to this country from England in 1873. Others present remembered when the young women of Auckland Went to church in their crinolines and ribboned hats. “I feel sure the young people of today are just as wholesome, just as good as. were our mothers and fathers,” said the Rev. E. Drake. “They are facing life in a new way, arid I feel they will work out their destiny to the best advantage.” Short addresess were given by the Revs. Bond, Carr and Drake. Misses Jean Buttle and Winstone gave songs and Miss Olive Garland contributed several piano solos.
